
Dr. Julia Duchrow is the Secretary General of Amnesty International in Germany. She was appointed Secretary General of the German section on November 1, 2023. Prior to this, she served as Deputy Secretary General and was a member of the management team at Amnesty International.
Before returning to Amnesty International in 2019, Dr. Duchrow, who holds a doctorate in international law, led the Human Rights & Peace division at Bread for the World for eight years. This followed a decade-long tenure as a policy advisor on asylum for Amnesty International.
Julia Duchrow was an elected member of the Coordinating Committee of the Forum Human Rights (2011–2023) and served as the deputy German member of the Management Board of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (2017–2022). From 2015 to 2018, she was also part of the Advisory Board for Civil Crisis Prevention at the German Federal Foreign Office.
Currently, she is a member of the Board of Trustees of the German Institute for Human Rights and serves on the advisory board of the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR).
